Grand challenges in Parkinson's disease: modifying progression - from molecules to trials
Grand Challenges in Parkinson’s Disease brings together hundreds of scientists, clinicians and people with Parkinson’s to explore the latest in Parkinson’s translational research.
The 2022 symposium will showcase recent advances that may fuel development of therapies to slow or stop Parkinson's progression, something not possible with current treatments.
Speakers will highlight both the underlying molecular science of Parkinson’s and the outcomes of new clinical trials. They will also explore the role of mitochondrial function, neuroinflammation, alpha-synuclein and lysosomes in Parkinson’s, with a focus on how these factors may be targeted with disease-modifying treatments. Lastly, they will spotlight new insights into GLP-1 agonists and c-Abl inhibition as potential therapeutic avenues.
