Working at Parkinson's UK

At Parkinson’s UK, we champion different ways of working. Find out more about the types of contracts we offer.

Whether you're a Parkinson's adviser in Scotland or a financial accountant based in London, we have a variety of ways we can support the contribution you make to the Parkinson's community.

We offer 2 types of contracts: hybrid and home-based. We also offer flexible working from your first day. We're open to various ways of working such as compressed working patterns, part-time working and variable working hours.

With both contract types, we operate a flexi-time scheme. This gives you flexibility on start and finish times and the ability to take back time you've worked over your normal hours to support your wellbeing.

Hybrid contracts

If you're working on a hybrid contract, you'll have the flexibility to work from both your home and our UK office in St James's Park, London.

You'll need to come into our office regularly. How often will depend on your team agreement, which sets out the team's norms.

Here are some examples of events you'll need to attend in person:

  • one-to-one meetings with your line manager
  • team meetings
  • team planning days
  • training courses.

Our job adverts have more information about expected in-person attendance for each role.

What you need to know:

  • We don't cover travel expenses to and from the UK office, so please make sure you can travel from your home address.
  • You'll get reasonable notice of when you'll need to come into the office.
  • We'll provide equipment such as a laptop for you to work from home and the office. We don't provide any other equipment for home working, unless part of a reasonable adjustment.
  • If you choose to work from home, you'll need to make sure you have a confidential space to work and a good internet connection.

Home-based contracts

If you're on a home-based contract, you won't have to work from our UK office. These roles are based all over the UK. Most home-based roles are for staff members who work in their local area with the Parkinson's community or with local organisations/professionals.

What you need to know:

  • We'll provide you with everything you need to work from home full-time.
  • You'll need to make sure you have a confidential space to work and a good internet connection.
  • If you have to attend the UK office or external events, we'll cover your travel costs.
  • You'll still need to meet in-person with colleagues sometimes, for example for training courses, quarterly team together days and quarterly 121 meetings with your line manager.
