Exploring the influence of sleep and genetics on progression of Parkinson’s

Researchers at the University of Exeter aim to understand whether changes in a protein found in the brain called Aquaporin 4 (AQP4) is connected to the development of Parkinson’s. This protein might play an important role in clearing the brain of harmful waste during sleep, which may damage the brain cells in Parkinson’s.
