Changes in gut bacteria of newly diagnosed people with Parkinson’s
Researchers at the University of Aberdeen are investigating which changes in gut microorganisms are characteristic of Parkinson’s.
• 40 people with Parkinson’s diagnosed within the last six months, or longer if they have not started medication yet
• 40 people without Parkinson’s from the same household
• Attending 2 visits at The Rowett Institute in Aberdeen, which will involve questionnaires and physical examinations. The first visit will last 1 hour and the second visit 20 minutes
• providing 2 stool samples by special post
Participants will have their travel expenses reimbursed.
