Using wearable technology to measure movement symptoms in people with Parkinson’s

Researchers at Imperial College London in partnership with SERG Technologies, a digital health and care solutions provider, are testing a device that uses non-invasive sensors to track movement symptoms in people with Parkinson’s.

Who

• 100 people with Parkinson’s

• 25 people without Parkinson’s

The researchers are looking for people who are 50 or older.

What

One visit to the research site where you will be given wearable sensors and asked to perform different movements.

• The visit will last between 2 and 4 hours

• You may be asked to repeat movements up to 3 times during a visit with hour-long breaks in between

• You may also be asked to carry out a selection of daily activities while wearing the sensors

• At the end of the session you will be asked to fill out a feedback survey

You may be asked to continue testing the device at home for up to two weeks after the site visit and to keep a diary of your symptoms.

You will be reimbursed £25 per hour and provided with a free lunch for taking part in the study.
