4,900 more people with Parkinson's get access to life-changing care, thanks to your support

Together we've raised an incredible £4.4 million for our Nurse Appeal so far.

Our Nurse Appeal is funding new Parkinson's nurses and specialists across the UK. Thousands of people with Parkinson’s don’t have access to healthcare specialists they desperately need to live well with the condition. But together, we’re changing that.

Turning your donations into specialists

Thanks to our supporters, we're halfway to our ambitious target. An estimated 4,900 more people now have access to life-changing Parkinson’s care.

So far, your donations have allowed the following Parkinson’s specialists to begin work:

  • 8 Parkinson’s nurses (with 9 more approved to start soon)
  • 6 physiotherapists
  • 2 occupational therapists
  • 2 speech and language therapists
  • 1 pharmacist.

Why more Parkinson’s specialists are needed

There is no cure for Parkinson’s, but with the right care and support, people can live well with the condition. They can feel understood and seen. And the people who love and care for them can be supported too.

But thousands of people don’t have access to the care they need. 1 in 5 people with Parkinson’s still do not have access to a Parkinson’s nurse. Not enough health and care professionals understand the condition. And a lack of specialists means people can’t get the help they need, when they need it.

Elisabete, a Parkinson’s nurse, said:

"There is no doubt we make a huge difference in people’s lives. Getting the right access to the right services at the right time. I think the Nurse Appeal is really important to raise awareness about how important our role is."

Together we can fund great care, everywhere

Whether you’ve donated, raised awareness, or supported us in any way, you're helping us make sure people with Parkinson's have access to the care they need. But we still have £4.6 million of our £9 million target to go. And we need your help to get there.
