Supporting people with Parkinson’s as symptoms progress

Recent research has helped find ways to predict the prognosis of Parkinson’s, which is how the condition is likely to change and develop over time. Researchers want to hear your experiences of receiving or providing a prognosis, and what support you would find helpful.

Who

• 28 people with Parkinson’s

• 23 people who support a person with Parkinson’s

• 5 bereaved supporters of a person with Parkinson’s

• 24 healthcare professionals working in the NHS who currently diagnose or discuss advanced care planning with people with Parkinson’s

What

People with Parkinson’s and people who have supported a person with Parkinson’s will be asked about their experiences and views of receiving a prognosis, through either:

• a 2 hour focus group, in person in Aberdeen or Bristol, or online

• or a 1 to 1 interview can be arranged if needed, either in your own home or online, for 1 hour.

Healthcare professionals will be asked about their experiences and views of prognosis in a 2 hour online focus group.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed and you’ll also receive a gift voucher for taking part.
