How does it work?

You must take the course Parkinson's: foundation modules for pharmacy (opens in new window/tab) before you can take this follow-on course.

This Structured Medication Review (SMR) course was written when community pharmacists were commissioned to provide the MUR service. As MURs are no longer a commissioned service, we have adapted the content to be relevant to any pharmacist doing a full and holistic structured medication review of medicines for people with Parkinson’s. The principles and hints and tips to consider when reviewing medicines in people with Parkinson’s remain important and we hope will help pharmacists to confidently support people with Parkinson’s in any care setting.

The course also provides signposting opportunities which are relevant to all people with Parkinson’s wherever their care is undertaken. If you are not a community pharmacist, where the course refers to community pharmacy please take the opportunity to reflect on how you can use and share the information to support people with Parkinson’s (and their carers) in your daily practice.

In this SMRs course you will be able to read, watch and listen to multimedia and interactive resources.

These include:

  • case studies
  • a video of a mock SMR with questions asked throughout
  • forum discussions
  • reflective exercises.

This course is facilitated by Shelley Jones, Consultant Pharmacist in Neurosciences.

You can log in at any time to this self-directed learning to work through the course at a pace that suits you.

A certificate is available to download once you have passed the assessment which gives 2 CPD points.

The course should take a minimum of 2 hours to complete.
