Recognising emotion through body language
A masters student at Durham University is investigating whether people with Parkinson’s or Progressive Supranuclear Palsy find it difficult to read and recognise emotion based on bodily movements.
This will help researchers understand how people with these conditions recognise emotions and could support improved diagnosis.
• 33 people with Parkinson’s
• 33 people with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
• 33 people without either of these conditions
The student is looking for people aged between 55 and 85 who have access to a computer or laptop.
• Taking part in an emotion recognition task on a computer or laptop
• Completing 2 online surveys about your mental and physical health
• The task and surveys will take 30 minutes to complete
• People with Parkinson’s or Progressive Supranuclear Palsy will also complete a 10 minute survey about how your condition affects your life
• For more information, please read the participant information sheet
