This programme equips experienced health and social care trainers to deliver the charity’s own Parkinson's Explained presentation within their organisation.
About Train the Trainer
Our updated programme is specifically designed for experienced health and social care trainers like you! Train the Trainer will help you:
- empower your team: your staff will gain increased knowledge and confidence in supporting people with Parkinson's
- transform support: the individuals you support will benefit from a staff team that have improved understanding of Parkinson's and their specific needs
- stay current: you’ll always have the most up-to-date, clinically sound resources, created in collaboration with a Parkinson’s Nurse, at your fingertips.
By the end of the programme…
You will have the skills and knowledge to:
- clearly explain what Parkinson’s is, its main symptoms, and the available management options
- confidently deliver to your staff the ‘Parkinson’s Explained’ training presentation
- guide your staff and colleagues in evaluating and improving their own practices when supporting people with Parkinson’s
- identify and champion positive changes in support practices
- share how Parkinson’s UK can be a valuable resource for your staff team and people with Parkinson’s.

Programme prerequisites
To access the programme and start your journey to become an official trainer, you will need to comply with the following standards:
- Complete all 8 courses in the Foundation Programme.
- Agree to the programme requirements*.
- Complete the application form to confirm you have completed and agreed to standards 1 and 2.
- Pass a compulsory knowledge check on Parkinson’s.
*Programme requirements
As a valued trainer, you will agree to:

each year, deliver at least 2 sessions of the Parkinson’s Explained presentation

provide data on each session delivered back to Parkinson’s UK

each year, provide one case study demonstrating changes in practice from session attendees

each year, attend a live webinar, or watch the recording

every 2 years, revalidate the programme certificate by undertaking a knowledge quiz

ensure the Parkinson’s Explained presentation is only used with health and care professionals

use the most up-to-date versions of the presentation and resources
