50 people without Parkinson’s who are 50 to 80 years old who have access to a laptop or computer and:

• a diagnosis of postural hypotension or pure autonomic failure 

• or experience frequent episodes of dizziness after standing up which end after sitting

• or take medicine for low blood pressure such as midodrine or fludrocortisone.

150 people with Parkinson’s

100 people with Parkinson’s who are living in the UK 

37 people without Parkinson’s who are:

• 50 to 80 years old 

• living in the UK or Ireland

60 people with Parkinson’s who:

• have access to the internet 

• can stand and walk unassisted for 1 minute

• have no other health conditions that affect walking 

Unfortunately, you can't take part if you:

•  have had deep brain stimulation (DBS) treatment or any other electrical implant like a pacemaker

• or have frequently worn a BeechBand or another vibrating device on their wrist for managing Parkinson’s in the past 12 months

25 people with Parkinson’s living in the UK

150 registered health and care professionals who have worked with people experiencing REM sleep behaviour disorder. 

40 people who self-catheterise and can access a device which connects to the internet. 

5 people without Parkinson’s.

15 people with Parkinson’s who:
• experience pain or worry about falling, and can walk independently
• are comfortable using a smartphone 

Unfortunately, those diagnosed with any other neurological conditions, such as dementia, or who have had Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) treatment are unable to take part.

200 people with Parkinson’s 

8 to 12 people with Parkinson’s from a South Asian background, who have lived in the UK for at least 5 years before diagnosis. 

20 health and care professionals who:

• regularly support or work with people with Parkinson’s

• and live in the UK

1000 people with Parkinson’s and their supporters who have access to a smartphone or tablet, and an internet connection.

People with Parkinson’s who don’t have a care partner are also eligible to take part.

Unfortunately, those diagnosed with dementia or who are living in a care facility are unable to take part.

17,000 people without Parkinson's aged between 50 and 80

320 people with Parkinson’s.

Unfortunately, those diagnosed with any other neurological conditions such as dementia or severe mental health issues such as depression are unable to take part.

People with Parkinson's who live in the UK and are aged between 18 to 90 years old. 

350 people with Parkinson’s 

• who are taking Parkinson’s medication

• have recently attended a hospital visit or have a visit planned in the near future

• 2400 people with Parkinson’s, or another movement disorder, who have either:

•  developed the condition before the age of 45,

• or have a family history of other family members with the condition, 

• or who carry a known gene change associated with the condition 

1,600 people with Parkinson’s, who:

• were diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 30 or over

• have been taking dopamine medication to treat Parkinson’s for at least the past 2 months before starting the trial

You won’t be able to take part if you have:

• certain Parkinson’s gene mutations (PRKN, PINK1, DJ1)

• significantly low blood pressure (checked by the research team)

• had advanced Parkinson’s treatments (e.g. DBS), or a diagnosis of dementia

• or you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or plan to become pregnant while part of the trial

We're looking for people with Parkinson’s or Lewy body dementia who:

• experience visual hallucinations, seeing things that aren't there, at least once a week

• are on a stable dose of Parkinson’s or Lewy body dementia medication 

300 people with Parkinson’s dementia or dementia with Lewy Bodies, who:

• are aged over 55

• have been taking an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (AChEI) medication (for example, Donepezil also called Aricept) for at least 12 weeks

All participants will be asked to take part with a trial partner, such as a loved one or carer. 

5 million people aged over 18 and living in the UK

People with Parkinson's, Parkinson’s with Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia living in Scotland

People with Parkinson’s, who are over 40 years old and have been diagnosed with Parkinson's in the last 7 years. This can include people who are or aren’t taking medication or intervention for Parkinson's symptoms (including DBS)

People without Parkinson’s who are over 40 years old. The researchers are especially interested in hearing from people with REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder (iRBD) or who act out their dreams.

People with a Parkinson’s diagnosis who are:

• aged between 40 and 80 years old 

• not yet taking dopamine type medication 

People taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors such as rasagiline, selegiline, or safinamide can take part.

People with Parkinson’s, with or without a known gene change associated with the condition, such as LRRK2.

People without Parkinson’s who have: 

• a known gene change associated with the condition, which means you may be at higher risk of developing Parkinson’s 

• a family member with Parkinson’s

• no family members with Parkinson’s

60 people with Parkinson’s who are: 

• aged 50 and above 

• able to walk and stand unassisted for 2 minutes

• and can travel to Northumbria University 

60 people with Parkinson’s, who:

• live within NHS Grampian in Scotland. 

• experience freezing when walking and can walk further than 100m with or without a walking aid

• have been taking a stable dose of Parkinson's medication for 3 weeks before starting the research

• and have access to a laptop or tablet

60 people with Parkinson's living in the UK, who:

• experience resting hand or arm tremor

• have been taking a stable dose of Parkinson's medication for at least 3 months

• can travel to the University of Nottingham

• and have access to the internet

Unfortunately, people with dementia, a history of epilepsy or who have an implanted device such as a pacemaker or deep brain stimulation are unable to take part.

40 people with Parkinson’s who currently take Parkinson’s medication.

Unfortunately, those who have been diagnosed with dementia are unable to take part.

100 people with Parkinson’s 

•  between 50 and 80 years old 

•  who have had Parkinson’s for less than 10 years

•  and are able to have an MRI scan
 

• 44 people with Parkinson’s psychosis. This could include seeing, hearing, or feeling things that aren’t there and mistaking objects for other things (hallucinations). Symptoms could also include unusual thoughts, beliefs, or worries that aren't based on reality (delusions). 

• 21 people with Parkinson's who don't experience psychosis 

• 21 people without Parkinson’s

The researchers are looking for people who are 40 years old or older and are not participating in any clinical trial involving taking a study medication.

20 people with Parkinson’s who:

• Are 55 years old or older 

• Experience freezing in everyday life

• And can walk for at least 1 minute without help

Unfortunately, those who have had Deep Brain Stimulation, are using a levodopa pump or have been diagnosed with dementia, are unable to take part.
