Your feedback
Your thoughts and feedback will help us make sure our information is as useful and easy to understand as possible.
The PIF TICK
We're proud members of the Patient Information Forum (PIF). Our health information carries the PIF TICK, the UK's only quality mark for trustworthy health information.
Our production process is independently audited to make sure every piece of information we provide is evidence-based, easy to understand and up-to-date.
Evidence and sources
All our medical information reflects the best evidence available at the time it is written. Sources include:
- national or international clinical guidelines and other official guidance (for example, the NICE guidelines)
- systematic reviews, randomised control trials and other research
- government publications and websites
- articles from medical and other journals
- textbooks
- expert opinion and good practice.
Expert review
All information we publish is informed and checked by health professionals and subject matter experts. We work closely with:
- Parkinson's nurses, specialist doctors (for example, neurologists and geriatricians) and pharmacists
- physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists
- financial and legal advisers.
Lived experience
We believe the best information is created alongside the people who will use it.
We co-produce and user-test our content with people living with Parkinson's, and those who support or care for them. We do this through focus groups, surveys and other general feedback.
This helps us make sure our information addresses the topics that matter most to the Parkinson's community.
Accessibility and language
We want our information to be accessible to everyone, whatever their level of medical knowledge or how they access our content.
- We write in plain English and find clear ways to explain complex topics.
- We regularly measure reading age to make sure our content is easy to understand and inclusive.
- We listen to our community and adapt our language. For example, we use 'Parkinson's' rather than 'Parkinson's disease', because that's what people living with the condition tell us they prefer.
- Our team checks for technical jargon to make sure our content is always clear.
Our approach to generative AI (artificial intelligence)
As technology evolves, we will always aim to use it responsibly.
- We do not use AI tools, such as Gemini or ChatGPT, to write our health information or magazine content for The Parkinson.
- We may sometimes use AI to help make content more accessible or to organise feedback.
- AI is never used as a source of medical evidence or clinical facts.
- We maintain human oversight at all times. We check all AI outputs and never copy and paste without a thorough review.
- We never input sensitive or confidential information into AI tools.
