Help test a new drug aiming to slow the progression of Parkinson’s
We’re looking for volunteers with Parkinson’s to join a phase 1b research trial.
By taking part, you’ll help to find out if an investigational drug called MTX325 can help slow the progression of Parkinson’s by removing damaged parts of cells that are not producing energy properly.
We’re looking for 36 people with Parkinson’s who:
• Were diagnosed in the past 5 years
• Are not taking Parkinson’s medication
• And are 40 to 75 years old
People with a known genetic change linked to Parkinson’s are unable to take part.
You’ll have expert care and in person health checks (including blood samples, a lumbar puncture and brain scans) to make sure you're safe and supported. Find out more about lumbar punctures in this Michael J. Fox Foundation video.
For 28 days, you’ll take either a low or high dose of the investigational drug, or an inactive identical looking capsule.
The clinical team will stay in close contact via phone, video and 7 visits to your nearest research site.

Check your location: See our list of research sites to find contact details of your nearest research team. There are locations in England and Scotland, and travel costs will be reimbursed up to £130 per visit. We aim for all sites to be open by Autumn 2026.
