About the course
This self-directed, foundation-level course will develop your knowledge and understanding of Parkinson’s medication and treatments. You will explore the key drugs used to manage Parkinson’s, identify the side effects people might experience, and recognise the importance of people taking the medication on time, every time. Working at your own pace, you will have opportunities to reflect on your current practice and explore practical approaches to enhance your support for people living with the condition.

What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- recognise that Parkinson's medication is a time-critical medication
- explain the difference between ‘wearing off’ and the ‘on/off states’
- identify some of the key medications used to manage Parkinson’s motor symptoms
- describe some of the side effects of Parkinson’s medications and the impact they can have on an individual and their support network
- recognise some of the advanced treatments available.
