Parkinson's UK launches exercise snacking programme

Movement Your Way offers a full range of movements and activities for everyone connected by Parkinson's.

We've launched a new exercise snacking programme, called Movement Your Way.

Being active is shown to have many benefits for people living with Parkinson’s, including improved balance and coordination, better strength, flexibility and mobility, and an enhanced sense of wellbeing and mindfulness.

So over 21 episodes, 4 experienced instructors take participants through a menu of bite-size routines and workouts, designed to help everyone live well with Parkinson's.

Movement Your Way should be followed in sequence, with participants following the video tutorials over a 3 week period and reviewing their progress at the end of each week.

Developed in partnership with content creators, 1FitLife, the new programme includes a mix of accessible activities and challenges, ranging from breath work and mindfulness techniques, to walkouts and press kick combinations, among many others. Each routine has a structured step-by-step approach with the dedicated personal instructors taking users through each movement or activity.

The programme's aim is to build confidence in being active and to encourage participants to return to the workouts, building the number of repetitions and level of intensity in the process.

Every video, which features instructors Adam, Ahmed, Kev and Yanar, has been designed to be a friendly, accessible and repeatable way for people with Parkinson’s to get active and move more in summer and beyond.

Anna Castiaux, Physical Activity Programme Lead at Parkinson’s UK, said:

“I’m delighted to see the final videos for the Movement Your Way programme, and it’s been fantastic to continue our partnership with the team from 1FitLife.

“I would also like to extend my thanks to everyone involved in the production of the new exercise programme, especially our instructors Adam, Ahmed, Kev and Yanar.

“Being active with Parkinson’s is all about finding the activities and movements that work for you, and my hope is that more people diagnosed with the condition will be able to take advantage of our new step-by-step programme.

“Movement Your Way is all about having a menu of bitesize exercises that anyone can do, regardless of experience or activity level, plus it’s designed to be repeatable and adaptable.

“If you’ve never thought about being active with Parkinson’s, or if you’re looking at new ways to get started, then I’d encourage everyone to give Movement Your Way a try.”

Jessica Overton, Managing Director at 1FitLife, said:

“Working with Parkinson’s UK on Movement Your Way has been an incredibly meaningful project for our team. Together, we created a series of accessible and easy-to-follow videos designed to fit naturally into everyday life.

“We know that shorter, more approachable sessions can feel far less overwhelming and much easier to return to consistently, especially for people living with fluctuating symptoms, energy levels or confidence. That’s why every video was designed to be accessible, supportive and achievable, while still helping people feel the benefits of movement.”
