Using sound and art to bring together younger people living with Parkinson’s
Researchers at University College London are exploring the mental health benefits of art and music for young people with Parkinson's.
They want to find out if taking part in a creative group project can improve feelings of loneliness.
15 people with Parkinson’s aged 18 to 50 years old, who:
• feel lonely, anxious or low in mood
• are willing to share their experience of living with Parkinson’s
• can attend at least 4 meetings for the study
You don’t need to have any previous drawing or musical experience to participate.
Completing a 20 minute survey about your mood and lifestyle before and after taking part.
Attending 2 hour workshops at University College London (UCL) and King’s Place on at least 4 of the following dates:
• Saturday 30 May – 11 am to 1 pm (UCL)
• Saturday 6 June – 11 am to 1 pm (UCL)
• Saturday 13 June – 11 am to 1 pm (UCL)
• Saturday 27 June – 11 am to 1 pm (UCL)

• Tuesday 7 July – 11 am to 1 pm (UCL)
At these meetings, you'll work together in a group to explore your experiences of living with Parkinson’s through art. With the support of professional musicians, you'll develop a piece of music to represent the group’s experiences.
You'll also be invited to attend a public performance of the music you helped to create. The performance will be held on 10 July at King’s Place at 7:30 pm.
