Using smart socks to track walking and balance in Parkinson’s
DANU smart socks measure information about walking and balance. A PhD student wants to find out if they could be used to track walking in people with Parkinson’s, and predict the risk of falling.
60 people with Parkinson’s who are:
• aged 50 and above
• able to walk and stand unassisted for 2 minutes
• and can travel to Northumbria University
Visiting Northumbria University for 1.5 hours to:
• Complete surveys about your Parkinson’s
• Wear the DANU smart socks and complete walking tasks for 40 minutes
You will be asked to complete a fall diary for 6 months after the visit.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to £50.
