This event will provide the opportunity for the Midlands Regional Excellence Network to come together in person to collaborate and network.

Through networking and learning, this event will bring together health and care professionals working or with an interest in Parkinson's, to help improve Parkinson's services across the Midlands.

The morning will focus on sharing best practice in Parkinson's care with examples from across the region and nationally. This will be structured around the NHS 10-year plan including the following examples:

  • shift to community: including partnership working examples and options such as virtual wards
  • digital options: considering the current digital offers to people with Parkinson's and how these may continue to develop in the coming years
  • move towards prevention of complications: including talks from the University of Wolverhampton on use of Judo to support falls prevention in people with Parkinson's as well as ways of supporting people post-diagnosis and identification and approaches to supporting apathy.

The afternoon will provide workshop spaces to consider pathways and plans in the following key areas:

  • advanced therapies
  • mental health
  • research collaborations
  • frailty and end of life.
