Demonstrating all of the Parkinson's UK values is Frances, secretary for the Christchurch branch.
Frances selflessly gives her time and energy to enrich the lives of the Parkinson's community, including carers, in the Christchurch and District Branch.
Frances is people-first, using her people skills from her teaching days, her care of her elderly parents, raising her family and other community activities.
She understands the the needs of people with Parkinson's and their families, making sure the group offers support, and a range of opportunities - from monthly meetings to Tai Chi, exercise classes and dance to help people continue to live the best life they can.
Frances is driven to grow and support new activities, with each member of our committee sharing responsibility for this. The united committee support Frances, and each other, to make a real impact in Christchurch. Monthly meetings include a guest speaker that either educates or entertains people too.
She is pioneering, having been part of the successful campaign to finance the early Parkinson’s nurses at Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals and she continues to look for new ideas to make life a little bit better.
