The Community Awards
The Community Awards celebrate the people making a difference in the Parkinson's community.

Our Community Awards celebrate people across the UK who are making a difference in the Parkinson’s community. Those supporting others, sharing their experiences, and helping improve life with Parkinson’s.
Brought to you by our Membership team and open to everyone, the awards give you the chance to nominate someone who has made a positive impact. This could be through ongoing support, a one-off act of kindness, or long-term involvement in the community.
You can nominate someone for big or small achievements, including:
- running or supporting a local group
- offering emotional or practical support to others
- encouraging people to get involved in research or campaigns
- using creativity, skills or lived experience to help others
- being a friendly, reliable presence when someone needs support.
Every person nominated receives recognition for the amazing difference they’ve made! There’s no single winner.
How the Community Awards work
Our awards follow a simple process each year:
- Nominations open in spring.
- Anyone in the Parkinson’s community can nominate someone using our online form.
- Nominations close after several weeks.
- Every nominee receives a Community Awards certificate, recognising the difference they’ve made.
- Certificates will be sent to all nominees by the end of the year.
When do nominations open?
Nominations for the awards are currently closed. We expect nominations for the 2026 Community Awards to open in spring 2026.
We’ll share details by email and update this page when nominations open. Keep an eye out for email updates from our Membership team.
Community Awards in numbers
Our awards have grown significantly since they began in 2023.
- In our first year, we received around 30 nominations.
- In 2024, this increased to 80 nominations.
- In 2025, we received more than 350 nominations.
This growth reflects the strength, generosity and commitment of the Parkinson’s community.
What being nominated means
We spoke to Brian and Nicky, who were both nominated for a Community Award in 2024. They share their experiences in the following video interview.
Brian
Brian was nominated for his poetry, as well as his warmth and kindness towards others in the Parkinson’s community.
“Receiving an award was huge for me. When people enjoy my poems and say nice things about them, it gives me happiness and often makes me forget my struggles. I wish I could bottle that feeling, it’s the best medicine.”
Nicky
Nicky was nominated for going above and beyond to encourage others to take part in Parkinson’s research.
“Being nominated encouraged me to keep moving forward and reflect on how far I’ve come. I now display my award on my desk as a reminder of the kind words shared.
“If you think someone deserves recognition, I definitely recommend nominating them.”
