2023 service improvement projects

Two national projects are running in response to the 2022 Audit results:

Better bone health

People with Parkinson’s are more than twice as likely to have osteoporosis and fractures than those without the condition. Yet the audit shows that many are not routinely assessed for fracture risk. Elderly care and neurology services can now sign up for phase 2 of this project. You can find more information about the success of phase 1, and what is involved in phase 2 on our national priority programmes page

Therapist induction programme

The audit shows that many services do not have induction and support strategies for new occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists working with people with Parkinson's. This 4-week online programme is aimed at all therapists who are new to working with people with Parkinson's. The next course will take place in the second half of 2023. You can log in to the audit tool above to register your interest, or email serviceimprovement@parkinsons.org.uk
