About the course

This self-directed course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the variety of technology solutions available to support people living with Parkinson’s.

You will gain an understanding of the different aspects of the condition that technology can assist with, such as speech difficulties, mobility challenges, or medication management, and explore types of technology, from smartphone apps to wearable devices. The course will also provide you with a framework of questions to help you ensure the people you work with are making informed decisions when considering tech that is right for them.

Working at your own pace, you will have opportunities to reflect on your current practice and explore practical approaches to enhance your support for people living with the condition.

What will you learn?

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • recognise that technology can positively impact how people manage their Parkinson’s
  • describe the main types of technology and what they aim to do
  • ask targeted questions to help patients make informed decisions
  • direct individuals to the Parkinson's UK Tech Guide for further resources.
