This paper was, published in Movement Disorders in June 2026 and the study's main findings include:
- People with Parkinson's will potentially benefit from Advance Care Planning, but around three quarters of patients surveyed state they have not heard of it
- the reasons why planning is necessary, including navigating future dementia risk, decisions regarding artificial nutrition, and timing for advanced therapies
- when and how health professionals working with people with Parkinson’s should raise this topic and the ways Advanced Care Planning discussions can be documented with patients.
