Success for Parkinson's UK at 2012 Charity Times Awards
Our Media team has been awarded a special runners-up prize in the PR team of the year category at the Charity Times Awards for their work on highlighting Parkinson's Awareness Week 2012 in the media.
The team were up against some strong competition from Bliss, Diabetes UK, ICAN/The Communication Trust, Reprieve and the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
The top prize went to Diabetes UK for their work in raising the profile of diabetes over the past year.
But the judges were so impressed with the impact the team made during Parkinson's Awareness Week that we were awarded a special runners-up prize. It's fantastic to have been recognised in this way.
Huge media impact for Parkinson's Awareness Week
We'll be setting our sights on the top spot next year, but for now we are very pleased to be highly commended!
Nikki Nagler, Parkinson's UK Media Manager
Nikki Nagler, our media manager, explains:
"This year's Parkinson's Awareness Week had a huge impact in the media and it's fantastic to see that our efforts to raise awareness of the condition have not gone unnoticed.
"The campaign - which secured more than 780 pieces of media coverage - stands as a testament to the dedication of the Media team, and the charity, to ensure that no-one has to face Parkinson's alone.
"We will be setting our sights on the top spot next year, but for now we are very pleased to be highly commended!"
