Our joint Health and Wellbeing Programme has won a prestigious Peacock Award in London.

We are totally delighted that our joint Parkinson's UK and Marie Curie Health and Wellbeing programme, delivered at the Marie Curie Centre in Belfast, has won a national award in the Improvement category at the recent Peacock Awards Ceremony in London.

Through this partnership, the physiotherapy team at Marie Curie and our staff team deliver an 8-week exercise programme for people recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. The physiotherapy team use an assessment and evaluation tool to ensure clients have a beneficial and safe exercise plan. During 2018, 3 programmes were delivered. All participants reported positive physical benefits with 100% concluding that their overall fitness and mobility had improved.

One participant in the programme said:

"I am happier now than I have ever been. I have come to terms with the shock of the diagnosis and I am facing a positive future surrounded by family, grandchildren and a great grandchild. My time spent on the programme was a vital stepping stone in getting to where I am now."
