Celebrating Volunteers' Week 2026
This Volunteers’ Week, we’re highlighting the work of our amazing volunteers, who make a huge difference to the lives of people with Parkinson’s.
What is Volunteers’ Week?
Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week, the annual, UK-wide campaign to celebrate and recognise the work of volunteers.
For us, it’s an opportunity to highlight our 4,300 wonderful volunteers. You generously give your time to improve life for people with Parkinson’s. This support helps us to provide friendship, support and activities to thousands of people with Parkinson's every week. We couldn’t do it without you!
There's a wide variety of roles to help people with Parkinson's live better. Whether you share your time, energy or skills, you’re part of a powerful community of people with Parkinson’s, families, friends, fundraisers and campaigners. All making a difference right now.
We spoke to one of our members and volunteers, Abigael, about what volunteering means to her.
Meet Abigael

Abigael began volunteering at her local Parkinson's singing group in 2021, during her final year of school.
"Very quickly, I realised just how important the group was to those who attended. It was truly heartwarming to see how much everyone enjoyed the group - from laughter to tears to performing at the Scottish Parliament, it's an honour to say I’m a part of it.
"While fundraising and raising awareness are so important, the real impact lies in the connection. You’re never just helping at an event. You are part of something bigger.
"To anyone who may be unsure about volunteering, I would simply say: give it a go. You’re always supported, welcomed, and appreciated. It’s a truly rewarding experience."
Feeling inspired?
Abigael’s story shows the difference you can make to the Parkinson’s community. But you'll not only raise awareness of Parkinson's. You’ll meet new people, have fun and develop skills that benefit you beyond volunteering with us.
We welcome volunteers who are over 18 and have lots of opportunities, including:
- volunteering at a group or activity
- campaigning for change
- raising money
- joining research opportunities
- shaping our future in a working group.
Together we’ll find the role that’s right for you, so you can make every day better for people with Parkinson's.
