We know that people with Parkinson’s are waiting too long for the right care. So we're campaigning to make sure people with the condition get access to specialist doctors and nurses they need to live well. And we need your help.
People with Parkinson’s can spend years waiting for a diagnosis. This makes their symptoms worse and costs the NHS money.
And once diagnosed, we hear that people with Parkinson’s can’t access the specialist nursing support they need.
Help us make sure everyone with Parkinson’s has access to the specialist care they need. Join our campaign and write to your MP or MSPs today.
Wendy's story
"I waited over 8 months to see the neurologist to confirm I had Parkinson’s.
"Whilst I was waiting, I started to develop a tremor in my left leg and arm. I feel like after my diagnosis I was thrown back into the world with no advice or guidance.
"I’m still waiting for my brain scan and I haven’t had access to a Parkinson’s nurse."
Support our campaign
Ask your MP to write to Karin Smyth, the minister, about recruiting, retaining and training the specialist Parkinson's workforce.
Stay up to date with our Can’t Wait campaign and hear how you can take action to make a real difference for people with Parkinson’s.
Ask your MSPs to write to Jenny Minto, the minister, about how she’ll ensure people with Parkinson’s get the specialist support they need to live well.
Personal stories are essential for raising awareness of what it’s really like to live with Parkinson’s. If you’re happy to share your experience of accessing healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.
Campaigners share their story
Campaigners in Birmingham showed their support for our Can't Wait campaign. They gathered at a mural in the city centre to highlight the urgency of the ongoing NHS workforce crisis.
Ask your MP to write to the minister urging them to make sure people with Parkinson's get the specialist care they need.
Next step: Contact your Integrated Care Board (ICB)
The next stage of our Can't Wait campaign is to find out the support ICBs in England provide for people with Parkinson's, and what their future workforce plans are.
Use our tool to contact the chair of your local ICB.
Our toolkit helps you follow up your ICB to find out what support they offer and what their future workforce plans are.
Once your ICB sends you the information you need, share it with the campaigns team and update your MP.
