Par-Con 2026 programme
We’re working together with a team of 10 people living with and connected to the condition to shape the Par-Con agenda. All sessions are available both online and in-person unless indicated.
The agendas for both days are subject to change.
Day 1: Friday 13 November 2026
Arrival and welcome from 9.30am
If you're coming to Par-Con in person in Birmingham, you can join us from 9.30am. If you're attending online, please aim to join us by 10.15am.
10.30am: Why does Parkinson's affect people differently?
Explore distinct biological ‘types’ of Parkinson’s, the exciting potential for personalised medicine, and the critical need for inclusive clinical trials to make sure that the treatments we develop actually work for everyone.
12.00pm:
Parkinson's and sleep
Hosts Helga and Julie of the Talking Parkinson’s Research: from lab to life podcast discuss the latest research and tips for getting a good night's sleep.
or Voice, speech and language (in person only)
Research and healthcare experts share their practical advice for treating and preventing problems with voice and speech in Parkinson's.
2.00pm:
Hidden symptoms
We'll discuss the more hidden symptoms of Parkinson's, such as impulsive behaviour, thinking and memory problems, and pain.
or Campaigning (in person only)
In this interactive session, you'll hear directly from members of the Parkinson’s community about how they got involved, tackled local issues, and had a lasting impact.
3.30pm:
Community awards
Celebrate the everyday heroes of the Parkinson's community.
or Black, Asian, Arab and Mixed Heritage support group meeting (in person only)
This drop-in activity is a welcoming space for people affected by Parkinson's from Black, Asian, Arab, and mixed heritage backgrounds to share their experiences.
4.30pm: Drinks reception and quiz
Grab your drink of choice and join us for a quiz, hosted by a special guest! Attendees joining in-person can also take advantage of a drumming taster session, led by Parkinson's Beats.

10.30am: Live 2 Parkies in a Pod podcast
Join hosts Kuhan and Dave, as they ask your questions to Kuhan's consultant, Professor Tom Foltynie.
12pm: A plan to STOP Parkinson's
Hear from our experts about our bold ambition for the future and how research is tackling all aspects of Parkinson's.
2pm: Finale
If you're coming to Birmingham, you can also enjoy our marketplace on both days. Hear more about our work, what support is on offer for you, and how you can get involved with research and activities in your area. You can also speak to local experts and get advice on what matters to you.
