About the course
This self-directed, foundation-level course will develop your knowledge and understanding of Parkinson’s communication symptoms. You will learn how motor and non-motor symptoms can affect a person’s verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, and the impact this can have on their social, personal and working life. Working at your own pace, you will have opportunities to reflect on your current practice and explore practical approaches to enhance your support for people living with the condition.

What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- recognise the range of ways a person’s verbal, non-verbal and written communication can be affected by Parkinson’s
- describe the impacts communication issues can have on a person’s social, personal and working life
- apply strategies in your own communication to help a person with Parkinson’s feel supported, understood and to minimise anxiety
- identify and signpost to relevant support for a person experiencing communication issues.
