About the course
This self-directed, foundation-level course will develop your knowledge and understanding of best practice in communication. You will explore the qualities of effective communication, the importance of active listening, and strategies for a person-centred approach to communication. Working at your own pace, you will have opportunities to reflect on your current practice and explore practical approaches to enhance your support for people living with the condition.

What will you learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- recognise that communication is a combination of body language, tone of voice, active listening and writing
- demonstrate the qualities of effective communication by adapting your style to meet the needs of each person
- apply a person-centred approach to ensure that you engage with people respectfully, compassionately and in partnership
- recognise and apply a range of communication strategies to support everyone affected by Parkinson's in understanding shared information and making informed choices
- identify opportunities for effective communication within teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients and residents.
