Shake with Laughter is back for its 6th year in London at the Comedy Store!
This year host Rob Deering, Gary Delaney, Lucy Porter, John Moloney and the hilarious Tim Vine will be taking to the stage. Don’t miss out on what promises to be another spectacular night of stand-up with more fantastic acts to be announced soon.
The 2017 line up:
Rob Deering (pictured above) is a comedian, musician, writer and runner. He performs in clubs, theatres and festivals across the UK and beyond – from Australia to the US, Europe to Dubai. He also does radio and TV work, including 99 Things to Do Before You Die on Channel 5 and Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks.
Rob’s dad, Barney, has Parkinson’s and Rob started supporting Parkinson’s UK in 2007 – first by winning £24,000 on Celebrity Weakest Link, followed by winning Celebrity Mastermind and Pointless.
Last October was Rob’s fifth Shake with Laughter for Parkinson’s UK, bringing together the cream of comedians at London’s Comedy Club. The gig was headlined by Alan Davies, whose grandfather had Parkinson’s.
Rob does collections at his shows and raises sponsorship through running. He has run the London, Berlin and York marathons and will run both the London and New York marathons in 2017. He is on track to reach his £100,000 target over 10 years of fundraising.
Rob grew up in London and Oxfordshire and lives in London with his wife, Julia, and their two children.
Gary Delaney is a regular guest on Mock The Week (BBC Two). His other TV and Radio credits include 7 Day Saturday (Radio 5 Live), Robert’s Web (Channel 4), Loose Ends (BBC Radio 4) and Russell Kane’s Whistle-Stop Tour (BBC Radio 2).
Gary is widely regarded as being the most quotable one-liner comic in the country. He projects the barely hidden delight of a cheeky schoolboy and the audience can’t help but be carried along by his infectious charm.
Gary has also written extensively for TV and Radio including 8 Out Of 10 Cats and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, A League Of Their Own, 10’Clock Live, The British Comedy Awards and The News Quiz.
Tim Vine made his first real attempts at stand-up comedy in 1991 at the Comedy Café in London.
In 2000 Tim performed in the Royal Variety Show in front of Prince Charles. From 2001 to 2002 he appeared in two series of ITV’s ‘The Sketch Show’ which won a BAFTA. In 2004 he broke the Guinness world record for the most jokes told in an hour (499).
He appeared in 5 series of the award-winning sitcom ‘Not Going Out’ and he played Beach the Butler in series two of Blandings. Other TV shows include Live at the Apollo, Q.I, winning Celebrity Mastermind, hosting ITV game show ‘Don’t Blow The Inheritance, a regular on Celebrity Squares, a regular on Countdown’s Dictionary Corner.
Continuing with his live comedy ‘The Tim Vine Chat Show’ where Tim interviews members of the audience and interviews them was a sell-out in Edinburgh 2011, 2012 and 2013.
In 2010 and 2014 Tim won the Dave Television award for ‘Best Joke at the Edinburgh Fringe’, the only person to have won it twice. He has successfully toured all of his stand-up and has released two books ‘The Tim Vine Joke Book’ (2010) and ‘The Tim Vine Bumper Book of Silliness’ (2013).
John Moloney has been a professional comedian for over 25 years, entertaining audiences across the globe with his crafted, intelligent and original stand-up routines. Winner of the Best Live Performer award for two years running at the London Comedy Festival, John has become one of Britain's most in-demand comedians.
John was also delighted to be nominated as ‘Best Live Stand-Up’ at the British Comedy Awards – but was even happier to be the winner in the Category “ Outstanding Contribution to UK Comedy “ in 2015.
John is highly sought-after on the Corporate Circuit, and has developed a relationship with many blue-chip clients, who use his services at their events and conferences year after year.
Lucy is a comedy hit across the globe, taking her distinctive, bouncy, feel-good comedy to Hong Kong, Manila, Switzerland and Paris. She was also invited to Miami to take part in NBC's Last Comic Standing and has performed in the States for NBC and HBO at their Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Back home, she has toured the UK multiple times to critical acclaim and played some of the country’s biggest festivals including Latitude and Kilkenny.
Lucy is a regular face and voice on TV and radio panel shows having appeared on QI, Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Room 101. She is also a quizzing demon having appeared on BBC 1’s Pointless (with partner Ed Byrne), ITV’s The Chase and Celebrity Mastermind. She remains amongst the most sought-after comedy writers in Britain and was one of the lead writers on ITV1's prime-time Sunday night satirical animation series Headcases.
In 2014, Lucy wrote the thought-provoking and witty play, The Fair Intellectual Club - Following the success of its Edinburgh run, BBC Radio 4 commissioned a 6-part drama series based on the play which aired in November 2016. Lucy is an accomplished actor having played Nurse Flinn in the criticallyOne Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in Edinburgh and London's West End, alongside Christian Slater. Recently Lucy has contributed to various publications as a columnist, including City AM, Cook Vegetarian Magazine and Mother & Baby.
