The Parkinson's UK Nurse Appeal

Thousands of people with Parkinson's don't have access to health specialists they desperately need to live well with the condition. Our Nurse Appeal is raising money to create more specialist roles.

Living with Parkinson's, and supporting someone with the condition, is tough. And as Parkinson's progresses, your need for specialist healthcare grows.

With the right support, people can live well with the condition. But there are huge pressures on the health service right now. Thousands of people with Parkinson's don't have access to the care they need.

Great care, everywhere

We need more Parkinson’s specialists. More health professionals who can support people with Parkinson’s, and those who love and care for them. That’s why we’ve launched our Nurse Appeal.

Together, we can fund great care for every Parkinson’s journey.

What our Nurse Appeal could fund

Our Nurse Appeal aims to raise £9 million over 3 years to increase the number of Parkinson’s specialists. This will give thousands of people with Parkinson’s access to the specialist care they need.

Together, we could fund:

  • 25 Parkinson’s nurses, giving 7,500 more people access to a specialist nurse and giving existing nurses more time to support those they already care for
  • 30 specialists, such as physiotherapists and mental health professionals, giving 12,000 more people expert care for specific symptoms
  • 6 clinical fellowships to support the brightest and best doctors to become the future leaders of neurology and geriatrics services at a local and national level, making sure people with Parkinson’s get the best care
  • extra training in Parkinson's care for health professionals, so more people with the condition can feel confident they’ll receive great care when they need it.
