Placard 'The Parkinson's support and research charity'

What we do

We're the UK's Parkinson's support and research charity. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone.

We provide expert information on Parkinson's

We provide expert information and training on every aspect of Parkinson's through:

If you have Parkinson's, or you know someone who has, you can turn to us for information and support.

There are many ways that you can access information and support.

We also offer training and resources for health and social care professionals to help improve services for people affected by Parkinson's.

We fund groundbreaking Parkinson's research

We're the largest charity funder of Parkinson's research in the UK. So far, we've invested more than £60million in groundbreaking research. And we plan to reach £70million by 2014.

We fund research to advance our understanding of Parkinson's and what causes it.

Our research also improves treatments to make life easier for people living with Parkinson's.

Our ambitious research strategy - Our plan to cure Parkinson's - Parkinson's UK research strategy 2010-2014 - is pushing our search for a cure to a new level.

We offer friendship and support

Gina from our Scotland team and Jane, who has Parkinson's, holding placard 'No one has to face Parkinson's alone'We offer friendship, support and the opportunity to meet other people affected via our network of local groups across the UK.

Local groups are there for everyone living with Parkinson's, their families and carers.

There are some groups specifically for younger people with Parkinson's.

Our discussion forum offers the opportunity to share experiences with other people online.

We campaign, change attitudes and improve services

We campaign to make sure people living with Parkinson's are treated fairly, with access to the support they need.

We want everyone to get high quality health and social care, including help from a specialist Parkinson's nurse.

We also improve understanding of Parkinson's by changing attitudes and challenging myths.

We fundraise to find a cure and improve life

Parkinson's UK supporters with their bikesWithout the generosity of people like you, our work would not be possible. Supporters and volunteers are as vital to us as researchers and nurses.

Our work is totally dependent on donations. It's only with your help that we can continue our vital research projects, and provide support and information.

There are lots of ways you can get involved and support us.

Help us to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.

Working with industry

We recognise the importance of working collaboratively with all stakeholders with an interest in Parkinson's.

Approximately 0.5% of our income originates from pharmaceutical companies.

We work with them in accordance to the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry code to protect the impartiality of the charity. Our industry supporters don’t have any input into the content of our publications.

We review our policies regularly and we'll continue to work with industry where we believe it's in the interests of people with Parkinson's.
