Vice Presidents
Our Vice Presidents are high profile supporters of the charity,
involving themselves in activities from campaigning and research to
fundraising and publicity.
Lord Ashley of Stoke
Lord Ashley was appointed as a Vice President in 2007 and has
Parkinson's. He served as a Labour MP for Stoke-on-Trent South
until 1992 when he was made Life Baron.
Lord Ashley is former president of the Royal College of Speech
and Language Therapists and later founded Deafness Research. He
joined the All Party Parliamentary Group for
Parkinson's disease in 2008.
Jeremy Browne MP
Jeremy was appointed as a Vice President in 2007. In 2008 he joined
the All Party Parliamentary Group for
Parkinson's disease, where he holds the position of treasurer.
He is the President of our Taunton and
Mid Somerset Branch and is very active in his local
community.
Jeremy, Liberal Democrat MP for Taunton, has been active on the
campaigning front, raising issues such as nursing with the
government.
Jeremy's father has Parkinson's.
Lord Walton of Detchant TD
Lord Walton was appointed as a Vice President in 2007. His interest
in neurology, in particular muscular dystrophy, led to his
involvement with us. He is President of Neurology and Dean of
Medicine at Newcastle University and Life President of the Muscular
Dystrophy Group of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Lord Walton was given a life peerage in 1989 and is a
crossbench peer. He has written several publications including
'Essentials of Neurology' and 'Brain's Disease of the Nervous
System'. He joined the All Party
Parliamentary Group for Parkinson's disease in 2008.
Dr Thomas Stuttaford MB
Dr Thomas Stuttaford was appointed as a Vice President in May 2008.
Thomas has been a Medical Columnist for The Times for over 25 years
and an author of many health books.
In early 2008 he included in his medical column articles on
the symptoms of sleep in Parkinson's and diagnosis and treatment of
dementia.
Geraldine Peacock CBE
Geraldine was appointed as a Vice President in 2007 and has
Parkinson's. She has much experience in the voluntary sector
holding positions as Chief Executive of the National Autistic
Society and Chief Executive of the Guide Dogs for the Blind
Association.
Geraldine later went on to become a Charity Commissioner and in
July 2004 was appointed to Chair of the Charity Commission. Since
then, she has retired and has been involved in many of our
activities.
Lord Harrison
Lord Harrison was appointed as a Vice President in 2007 and is in
his first term of office. He is President of our Chester Branch and is very active in his local
community.
Lord Harrison served as Secretary to the European Parliamentary
Labour Party until 1994. He joined the All
Party Parliamentary Group for Parkinson's disease in
2008.
