Parkinson's fundraiser Alex Flynn on BBC's The One Show
17 October 2012
Alex Flynn, 40, from Henley-on Thames (right) is
taking on an extreme challenge of running, cycling and
climbing 10 million metres to raise £1 million for Parkinson's research.
Alex appeared on The One Show on
17 October to talk about his amazing
Trans-America adventure - part of his overall 10 million
metres challenge.
And he also appeared on the show on 16 October- watch on BBC iPlayer
now.
This would be a gruelling challenge for anyone, but even more so
for Alex as he has Parkinson's.
Alex goes Stateside to raise Parkinson's awareness
Alex was filmed in the USA by the BBC for his Trans-America
Challlenge. Alex's expedition was to cover 3,500 miles from the
Pacific Coast at Santa Monica to New York City - in just 30
days.
Alex said: "The idea of the 10 million metre challenge came
about over a cup of tea with a friend. I set a deadline of doing it
in 4 years, split into different races. One challenge involved
me running from London to Rome, averaging 50 miles a day.
"I want to bring awareness that, with Parkinson's UK especially,
there are support groups and people who
can help."
Well
done Alex
Alex also recently featured in our Summer
