qMAP - Understanding variability in Parkinson's
They hope to develop a method for diagnosing and predicting the progression of Parkinson's.
100 people diagnosed with Parkinson’s within the last 2 years, who are aged between 45–75 years and can undergo MRI scanning.
The team are also looking for people without Parkinson’s within the same age bracket and/or people who have been diagnosed with Rapid Eye Movement Sleep disorder.
Due to Covid-19, the initial assessment and screening will be done remotely. Once the team have all of the information they need, they will make a plan with you for the next steps. Visiting the research centre 3 times over a 4-year period. Each session will last a maximum of 4 hours. 2 of the visits will involve an hour-long MRI scan and giving a small blood sample. After each visit you will be asked to wear a watch-like device on each wrist to measure movement for a week.
