CHIEF-PD - Can rivastigmine, a Cholinesterase Inhibitor, help prevent falls in Parkinson's?
The aim of the research is to determine whether these drugs do help prevent falls.
The research trial will be happening at 26 sites across the UK so do keep an eye out for new locations being added.
600 people, over the age of 18, diagnosed with Parkinson's who have fallen in the past year. You will need to be able to walk at least 10 meters without a walking aid or assistance and not be taking Cholinesterase Inhibitors (such as donepezil and rivastigmine).
You will be asked to attend 2 visits at the research site nearest you, one at the beginning of the research and one at the end (after 12 months). At the first visit you will be screened for eligibility and if found to be eligible you will be randomised to either receive the drug or a placebo and take part in a few assessments.
