Aerobic exercise to improve heart and lung function in people with Parkinson’s.

The aim of the research is to understand if an 8-week community led aerobic exercise class for people with early stage Parkinson’s can reduce future breathing complications.

Who

50 people diagnosed with Parkinson’s who are over 18 years of age.  You must be able to walk independently for 10 meters, be a non-smoker and have no history of a chronic lung condition.

What

You will need to attend a baseline appointment at the research centre taking 1.5 hours.  At the visit you will complete questionnaires and be physically assessed for lung function and heart fitness.  You will then be either assigned to the 8-week exercise course or to continue your usual activity.
