easyHotel choose Parkinson’s UK as first charity partner
easyHotel employees have voted for Parkinson’s UK to become their first ever charity partner.
The new partnership will run for 2 years and will raise vital funds to support people living with Parkinson's through employee fundraising activities.
Parkinson's UK is the leading charity driving better care, treatments and quality of life for those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's through cutting edge research, information, support and campaigning.
The money raised by easyHotel employees will help fund the work of Parkinson's UK's free confidential helpline and its network of local advisers.
The helpline deals with thousands of calls every year, providing advice and information for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.
Local advisers work hand in hand with the helpline, visiting people at home to provide face to face support, including emotional support, and assistance to access local and national services.
Vicky Pizer from easyHotel, whose late stepfather had Parkinson's, championed Parkinson's UK's successful bid. She said:
"Because we'd never heard of Parkinson's UK my family didn’t know that help was available and ultimately the toll of my stepfather's illness tore our family apart.
“Nobody should have to go through Parkinson’s without the support they need, which is why I’m so proud that easyHotel employees voted to support this amazing charity.
“I truly hope that the money we raise will help Parkinson's UK reach more families like ours when they need them most."
Tom Ingram, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Parkinson's UK, said:
"Parkinson's UK supports thousands of people living with the challenges of Parkinson's every year.
"But we are completely dependent on donations, and can't do any of this vital work without the amazing support of businesses like easyHotel.
"We are so thankful to its employees for their support and are looking forward to working with them on our exciting new partnership."
Guy Parsons, Chief Executive of easyHotel commented:
"When choosing our first charity partner it was incredibly important for us to pick an organisation with which our team had a personal connection and I'm delighted that we have chosen Parkinson's UK.
"Since its foundation in 1969 Parkinson's UK has funded ground-breaking research and provided support to thousands of people impacted both directly and indirectly by Parkinson's.
"We have a number of fundraising initiatives already underway and we are honoured to be able to lend easyHotel’s support to the inspiring work they do."
