I need your help to improve NHS continuing healthcare.
NHS continuing healthcare, also known as NHS continuing care, is a package of professional care that is arranged and funded by the NHS. It's free of charge to the person receiving the care and it's provided on an ongoing basis outside of hospital. The decision on whether someone should get it isn't down to which condition they have, it's measured on the person's specific needs and what they can and can't do. If the issues are mainly due to health needs you should be given NHS funding, but it can be hard to get this decision made.
In order to improve NHS continuing healthcare we need to understand what the system does well, and where it is letting people down. We know that in the majority of cases, it is the family and friends of people with Parkinson's and other long term conditions who have to go through the application and appeals process.
