Walk for Parkinson's Welford Park

Join us

A brand-new walk for Birmingham - Sutton Park is a 2,400-acre National Nature Reserve located 6 miles north of the city centre.

The park has beautiful open heathland, woodlands, seven lakes, wetlands, and marshes - each with its own rich variety of plants and wildlife, some rarely seen in the region.  You might also see cattle and wild ponies grazing on the land.

Join us for a gentle short walk or a longer one around this wonderful park.  This will be a great walking event for all the family and will suit most levels of fitness, age and ability.

We suggest that all walkers aim to raise at least £50. Your entry fee goes towards the cost of organising the walk, but by raising £50 in sponsorship, you can make a huge difference to the lives of people with Parkinson’s.

More details

Dogs: Are welcome but must be kept on leads at all times.

Parking: There is a large carpark available at the Town Gate entrance near to the start point and it is only a 10-minute walk from Sutton Coldfield Train Station.

Accessibility: Both routes follow the paths and bridleways so can be undulating.  Please make sure that you come properly equipped for walking, with appropriate footwear, as some of the soil in the park is stony and if it has been raining it can be muddy.  The shorter walk is mainly flat with paved paths so is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.  The longer route follows a mixture of paved paths, tracks, uneven surfaces and grassed areas so will not be suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Refreshments: The visitor centre does not sell food or drink, so please feel free to bring a picnic or head to nearby town Gate Cafe (5 minutes away) for a snack. There are also several restaurants and pubs within the park. A bottle of water will be provided.

Walk packs: Your walk T-shirt and fundraising pack will be sent soon after your registration and your number and on the day information will be sent the week prior to the walk.

Registration: Please note registration closes just over a week prior to the event. On-the-day registration will be available and will cost £15 for adults and £7.50 for under 16s.
