How your support helps
Without the generosity of people like you, our work would not be
possible. Supporters and volunteers are as vital to us as
researchers and nurses.
You can make a difference
Here are just a few examples of how your support can make a
difference for people with Parkinson's.
- £2 is enough to pay for our DVD
'Being There' to be sent to someone
recently diagnosed with Parkinson's.
- £26 could pay for one of our nurses
to answer calls on our helpline for an
hour.
- £150 is enough to fund a Parkinson's
nurse for a day, meaning that we can provide specialist care for
people with the condition.
- £1,000 could fund a cutting edge
research project for a
week.
When you raise funds for us, you can rest assured that we will
spend your money wisely. The best way for us to fund the range of
work that we do is to receive donations that we can spend where we
need to, when we need to.
What we do
Research
We fund groundbreaking research to
advance our understanding of Parkinson's and what causes it. Our
research also improves treatments to
make life easier for people living with Parkinson's.
We're determined to overcome the symptoms and find a cure as quickly as we
can.
Friendship and support
We offer friendship and support to everyone living with
Parkinson's, their families and carers via our network of local groups across the UK.
Information
We provide information and support through our UK-wide team of
information and support workers, our
free confidential helpline, 0808 800
0303, our website and our publications.
We offer training and develop
resources for health and social care
professionals to help improve services
for people affected by Parkinson's.
Campaigning
We campaign to make sure people
living with Parkinson's are treated fairly, with access to the
support they need. We want everyone to get high-quality health and
social care, including help from a Parkinson's nurse.
We also improve understanding of Parkinson's by changing
attitudes and challenging myths.
