Walk
Callum's epic walk from London to Paris
Callum Davies and his friends walked from London to Paris -
160 miles - in 8 days!
University students, Callum Davies, Lucy Findlay, Emilia Haines
and Daniel Nicholas, decided to fundraise after Callum's mum was
diagnosed with Parkinson's.
We wanted to be the first to walk from London to Paris in
support of Parkinson's UK.
Our bags were packed - weighing over 10kg each. We set off from
Parkinson's UK head office full of
excitement for the epic journey ahead of us. It took 3 days to walk
from London to Newhaven and after a ferry to Dieppe, a further 5
days to walk to Paris.
Despite the many blisters, strain on our shoulders and sheer
exhaustion, we made it. We've raised almost £5,000 and none of us
have ever felt so proud of anything in all of our lives. 160 miles,
8 days, 4 people, 1 team, and we can proudly say, we did it!
Gail's Coventry walk raises £1,200
Gail
Evison, along with her mum and dad, undertook a 5 mile walk around
the War Memorial Park in Coventry
My fantastic dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's over 2 years
ago. As the condition has progressed my mum and dad have found the
support of their local group invaluable,
so we wanted to show our support and get involved.
Although exercise isn't my thing and 5 miles is a long way for
dad to walk, we decided to join local group members, friends and
family, and organise a walk.
The Evison family all finished the walk together and we were
last over the line but we finished. It was a great morning and we
managed to raise over £1,200!
Matthew's 20-mile away game adventure
Matthew Foster, and fellow Maidenhead United fans,
walked 20 miles in fancy dress to an away match
My father-in-law has Parkinson's and I wanted to do something.
Myself and 5 other Magpie supporters set off to walk to a Reserves'
away game at Binfield dressed as the Milky Bar Kid, Sherlock
Holmes, BA Baracus, Michael Jackson, Postman Pat and Father
Christmas.
We arrived in good time to watch United's 1-0 victory, before
making the 10-mile trek back to Maidenhead.
Despite arriving home sore-footed, in the dark and with a
thunderstorm rumbling on the horizon, we all thoroughly enjoyed our
adventure and thanks to generous donations from family and friends,
colleagues and fellow football fans, we raised over £1,200 for
Parkinson's UK.
I know my wife's family, particularly my father-in-law, are
especially proud of us, and that has made this walk very special
for me.
