Comedy for a Cure presents...
Shake with Laughter
Massive thank you to Rob Deering and friends for
supporting us at the Bloomsbury Theatre on 30 October
2012!
Watch this space for another comedy night in 2013.
Performances by
Rob Deering
Rob (pictured right) has been performing stand up for the last
20 years.
Consistently turning up on TV and at comedy clubs around
Britain, lambasting pop culture, promoting apple-based alcoholic
beverages and playing widdly-widly rock guitar, all with his
inimitable cheesy egotism.
- 'A massively engaging intelligent comic offering a cracking mix
of songs and silliness' The Guardian
- 'An evening in his company is nothing less than a joy'
The Independent on Sunday
Rob says:
"My dad has Parkinson's and I became
involved with Parkinson's UK when I did a comedians' charity
edition of the Weakest Link. Since then I've run 1 and half
marathons, but I should probably leave the running to the experts,
so it's exciting to be involved in another fundraising opportunity
that involves comedy."
Nick Helm
Since starting stand-up comedy in 2007, the talented and
enthusiastic Nick Helm is quickly gaining attention from across the
industry for his unique, powerful and above all hilarious blend of
one-liners, stories, poems and songs.
Nick has many awards to his name including a nomination for best
show Foster's Edinburgh comedy awards and 2011 Dave's funniest joke
of the Fringe 2011 award.
'Laugh-out-loud' The Times
Jason John Whitehead
Jason has been performing his brand of Stand Up Comedy all over
the world for 12 years now. He is a regular at International Comedy
Festivals in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, UK, Holland and his
home country of Canada.
A regular headliner on the British and International circuit,
Jason has headlined prestigious clubs such as The Comedy Store,
Jongleurs, Highlight, The Glee Clubs, and Yuk Yuks.
'His deadpan drop out wit is packed with laughs' The
Scotsman
Tony Law
Since winning the Glastonbury New Act competition Canadian
comedian Tony Law has become one of the most revered stand-ups on
the circuit, winning the acclaim of both the critics and his
peers.
2012 has been a busy year for Tony with several projects in
development and a plethora of TV appearances. The cherry on top of
this lovely muffin of a year was the prestigious Foster's Edinburgh
Comedy Award nomination for his Fringe show Maximum
Nonsense.
'A warm and beguiling stage presence' The
Telegraph
Nathan Caton
Nathan started doing comedy whilst studying architecture at
university and in 2011 won Best Young Comic in the Black Comedy
Awards.
He has appeared on BBC2's Mock The Week, and has also written
for BBC Radio 4.
'He specialises in laidback, on-the-nose material, chopping down
fools of all colours, both in day to day life and in the
media' The Guardian
Tiffany Stevenson
Tiffany began her career in stand up in 2005. As an actress she
has already worked alongside well known comedy talent such as Ricky
Gervais (The Office), Jon Bird (Chambers) and Stephen Fry (Absolute
Power).
'Providing hugely enjoyable class-conscious comedy, this
engaging young comic also has a nice line in catty put-downs'
The Guardian
Elis James
Elis (pictured right) has made quite the name for himself as an
engaging storyteller, weaving Jackanory-style tales about love and
life.
An equally sharp gagsmith, Elis is a natural performer,
endearing, candid, witty and warm and has recently performed
stand-up on 8 out of 10 Cats, Russell Howard's Good News, and The
Rob Brydon Show.
Elis has numerous TV and radio projects currently in development
and he is taking his critically acclaimed Edinburgh Show 'Do you
remember the first time?' on a national tour.
- 'He hypnotises the audience into loving him. There's also a
laugh every 10 seconds or so which overall makes it a complete
joy' Time Out
