Pauline and Lorraine's party
Pauline Speirs held a fun filled Party for Parkinson's with the help of her
friend Lorraine Evans, family and friends.
I wanted to support
my close friend, Lorraine, who is 37 and has been diagnosed with
Parkinson's, as well as all of those who
live with Parkinson's in the UK.
After taking part in the Stirling Pedal
for Parkinson's in July 2011 with Lorraine, I wanted to do more
so I decided to hold a Party for Parkinson's to help raise
funds.
Our party was held at Claremont Lodge Hotel in Alloa. Tickets
were £5 each.
Fortunately we made fantastic connections with local businesses
who donated amazing prizes for our raffle. Friends and family also
pitched in, kindly donating prizes and providing a buffet for our
guests.
I would advise anyone planning a Party for Parkinson's to have fun, provide plenty of entertainment and not to be afraid to ask for help.
We also had plenty of entertainment lined up for our guests:
- A 'deal or no deal' game, which was a lot of fun.
- An Elvis impersonator performed 2 songs which got everyone on
the dance floor and the disco continued until 1am.
- We even had a comedy impersonator: Little Britain's Vikki
Pollard! Everyone found it hilarious and we were able to raise even
more funds.
I would advise anyone planning a Party for Parkinson's to have
fun, provide plenty of entertainment and not to be afraid to ask
for help.
Overall, the party was a huge success - 170 people came
along and we raised an amazing £2,303 towards research.
