We reveal £5million funding for the new Monument Discovery Award, to carry out groundbreaking new research aimed at accelerating progress into finding a cure for Parkinson's.

6 new project grants, totalling over £1million, are highlighted. These projects mainly focus on understanding the causes of the condition and include:

  • a zebrafish model of early onset Parkinson's
  • the role DJ-1 gene plays in Parkinson's
  • the role of inflammation in the development of Parkinson's
  • why dopamine-producing nerve cells are vulnerable in Parkinson's
