Research funding process

We ensure that only the best quality research is funded. Each application is rigorously assessed by an independent panel of experts.

This guarantees that every penny donated towards research will benefit people with Parkinson's.

The application process

• Our range of research grants are advertised in relevant journals and on this website.
• Applications are invited from basic scientists, clinicians and health care professionals.
• Applications for all research grants must be made via our online application system.

The review process

• Each application is evaluated by at least 3 independent experts from around the world, our Research Advisory Panel and people who are affected by Parkinson's.
  
• Recommendations are discussed by our Board of Trustees.
• New projects are approved and research starts.

In 2011 we passed the Association of Medial Research Charities' (AMRC) peer review audit, which takes place every 5 years.

Ongoing monitoring

Each project is closely monitored through visits and annual assessments.
