PhD studentships
We offer fully funded PhD studentships for outstanding
students undertaking research into Parkinson's.
Deadlines
There is one round of studentships per year.
The next deadline is Monday 20 August 2012.
The final decision on studentship applications will be made in
January 2013 for appointment of the student in the following
summer/autumn.
This allows recruitment of the most able students early in their
final year.
Costs and duration
Our PhD
studentship scheme provides funding over 3 years to students based
at a UK higher education institution.
Students receive:
- a stipend of £15,000 per year (or £16,000 per year if in
London)
- full PhD tuition fees (at the UK/EU rate)
- a contribution of up to £10,000 per year towards research
costs
Students from outside of the EU are welcome to apply for this
scheme on a full fee paying basis.
Supervisors should contact their university's research office
regarding fees for overseas students.
Eligibility
- The PhD studentship scheme does not cover funding gaps for PhD
students whose studies have already started.
- Home and overseas students must have a first or upper second
class honours degree in a relevant subject.
- Applications must be made by the potential student's
supervisor, who must be based at a UK university, hospital or
research institute.

Once a grant has been awarded and accepted, the grantholder and
administering institution are bound by our Research grant terms
and conditions (PDF, 60KB).
Supervisors are responsible for the recruitment of the student
after the award has been made.
