hi i was put on amitriptyline 2 weeks ago by the pain clinic 10mg ,to help with pain at nite and sleep,but ive recived a letter this mornin and it goin over to nortriptyline,the amitriptyline made me bit dizzey when i first went on it but that soon went,does anyone no anything about nortriptyline please,it be very helpful to no side effects to this drug if any please ,thankyou ,ali xsmile

Hi Ali,

Just 30 minutes ago I was googling nortriptyline after it was mentioned in another thread. How bizarre!

My take on it is that it generally has fewer side effects but less sedation than amitriptyline. I'm on amitriptyline (only 10 mg) at night for nerve pain and poor sleep, so that's why I was interested. They are both largely prescribed as anti-depressants at higher doses.

Hopefully, you'll get some responses from people who are actually taking nortriptyline. I'll be interested in what they have to say.
