At the moment I am on a fairly low dose of Requip XL. I think I have some mild, compulsive behaviours, though it may be nothing to do with the drugs. However I am wondering that if it is due to the Requip could it get worse with increased dosage?

Hi Anne, I`m on 8mg Requipxl, I have swollen legs and now I`m sure I have mild compulsive behaviour too. I seem to eat all the time even though I`m not hungry, also every time I go out I buy something.
It was reading about other people doing similar things that made me think.I`m trying to see my neuro consultant earlier than I should to ask him about it.

Hello Val

Like you I have swollen legs, and while I don't have too much problem with eating during the day I seem to be perpetually nibbling in the evenings, even after I have had a good dinner. As a result my weight has shot up. Which may be a contributing factor to my swollen legs.

I have always had a tendency to occasionally read books till fairly late, but I now seem to do it every night. I did have a mild obsession about buying cardigans, but that seems to have finished. (Just as well as I had no more room in my drawer.) But while these are fairly controllable at the moment, I am concerned that increased dosage will increase compulsive behaviour

Hi AnneG

If you think you are experiencing compulsive behaviour please go back to your health provider and tell them. My partner gambled thousands and is still paying it back! I know cardigans don't seem too bad - but who knows what will happen tomorrow - he started with bottles, which was harmless enough! But as the dosage increased he moved onto internet poker - I don't think this is something to be taken lightly having personal experience of it.

Best of luck.

Hi AnneG

Just read your thread and my advice is see the neuro. My compulsive disorder was shopping and it financially ruined us. It took me 3 years to find out what was wrong and by then I owed about 50000. Still trying to pay it back now and I have retired. when I first started to use the meds it wasnt even on the packaging to let people know that this could be a side effect and thats how come it took so long for me to realise. You guys are a bit luckier cos there are plenty of us who have already had those experiences no to warn you. Dont let it get out of hand

regards

I`m just waiting to get an early appt. with the neuro. I feel I need to increase my meds but I certainly don`t want more Requip xl. I never realised I had a shopping problem till I read of others experiences. It`s unbelievable how much help and information you can get from the forums.

Hi all

Thank you to everyone who has replied. I shall keep the information in mind if I need to increase my Requip XL dosage.

To give my neuro credit he has been very concerned about obsessive behaviour and keeps warning me about it.

hello all,

Well, I'm not on meds yet, but keep reading about this "compulsive" mode you can get into while on certain ones.....besides Bigbee's comment (which I think he's saying, is not a bad thing?) has anyone else had any "good" behaviors that have surfaced.....like compulsive housekeeping? or dieting? I'd like to have some new good behaviors....or are they usually things that aren't so great, like too much shopping?

I was only thinking the other day that I seem to ever so slightly more impulsive which in my case is a definite plus as I've always been a terrible procrastinator. Lately, I've been getting on with things. Indeed I'm just off on a twinning break to Germany which I have been mithering about for years.
